My new invention on Macro Shooting
by admin on May.22, 2010, under macro
I get bored with the shooting I did normally, when I looked at other people photos I find that their macro shot are impressing and out of the world, I wonder how can I to be like them? So I try with no flash macro for the first day, the result is not bad, after that try to shoot with tripod but with some fill in flash together with my D.I.Y diffuser, I find that these shots are much more impressing than my previous one. Most of my shots are Dragonflies are because they seldom move around and they are not camera shy. Something to share here………..

Studio Session with a Mantis
by admin on Mar.23, 2010, under macro
Since I move to this house, I never try a studio macro, coincidently I saw a mantis in my garden while I’m gardening the plant. so I put it in a box and start shooting it after I finish my studio products shot for a client. Mantis is always one of my favorite insects, because of the way it pose……. At first it is not so cooperative, tends to fly away a few times, slowly I think it enjoyed his session with me. I spend almost 2 hours to finish the shots after i felt a bit dizzy and sleepy. I hope this shots will impress you all.

by admin on Mar.12, 2010, under macro
I aspect a boring outing today because for the first 20 minutes I can’t find any insects to shoot, until I notice this grasshopper was trap in the web when it trying to get away from me. I try to record down this series, but some how the action is too fast, I miss out some interesting part, just to share with you all what I have captured. This tell me nature actually is cruel, because of surviving.

Flower or Art?
by admin on Feb.11, 2010, under macro
Beside shooting incests, flowers are my favorite subject in photography too. I don’t know why, but once I see flowers I feel happy indeed. So I try to convert it into an art and share this happiness to all the people who appreciate it. I did sell some of my flowers shot in the gallery. I hope I can shoot more for my collection, or if you got any inquiry on my print, please contact me through email.
Flowers always make people better, happier and more helpful; they are sunshine, food and medicine to the soul. ~ Luther Burbank

Penang Flowers Fest 2009-insectivorous plants
by admin on Jun.05, 2009, under macro
This is the 4th consecutive year I visited the flower fest. Those flowers are about the same, what really caught my eyes are those insectivorous plants. I know little bit about them is because I learn from the discovery channel. They are very tiny, and not easy to shoot and focus, some more they put it beneath a shade, so I need to use a flash light to help me on this.
Info from wikipedia: Carnivorous plants (sometimes called insectivorous plants) are plants that derive some or most of their nutrients (but not energy) from trapping and consuming animals or protozoans, typically insects and other arthropods. Carnivorous plants appear adapted to grow in places where the soil is thin or poor in nutrients, especially nitrogen, such as acidic bogs and rock outcroppings.

Shooting in Balik Pulau and Sungai Burong
by admin on Mar.26, 2009, under Penang, landscape, macro
This is my second visit to Balik Pulau and Sg Burong. The first one was with Milan Teh , now is with Tommy Tan. We almsot cancel the trip due to the shower, but luckily we didn’t if not we will regret for a very long time because of the twin rainbow. Is a good place for shooting, we shoot some macro, landscape, rainbow and sunset there, the life in here is totally different from the Urban life, is an isolated place and another world in Penang. Is good to visit here once a while to relax yourself and mind.

Winner of Butterfly & Insect Photography competition
by jordanlye on Nov.22, 2008, under macro, personal
I can’t really sleep for the whole night because of my excitement, so I started my journey a bit early with my mum and wife. When I arrived in the butterfly farm they hinted me I got a good prize but I can’t believe myself I actually got 1st prize when they announced the result.
I feel fortuned and finally I got payback for the hardwork I did for the past one year. I still remember my mum always scold me when I shoot macro in my garden and even though my wife was not supportive at all. This prize mean a lot to me and it remind me this proverbs ” Don’t limit a child to your own learning, for he was born in another time. ”
